aegean sea

The Aegean Sea is located between the countries of Greece and Turkey. In ancient times, it housed civilizations such as the Minoans of Crete, and the Mycenaean of the Peloponnese. It connects to the Sea of Crete, in which the popular center for Greek philosophy, Rhodes, is located. It is said to be named after Aegea, queen of the Amazons, who drowned in the sea, and Aegeus, a man who drowned himself when he thought his son had died.
